“You've Got More Mail” Instructions

The Concept: Players will have to figure out if photos and descriptions from e-mail forwards are real or fake.

Items Needed: Forward/Delete cards (included as a separate PDF file)

Instructions: This game can be played as a group or individual game. Provide each person or team with a “FORWARD IT” and a “DELETE IT” card.

Each question shows a photo from an e-mail forward that’s made its way around the internet. There is text from each e-mail and info about each photo in the “Answer Key and Additional E-mail Information” file. Read the e-mail text before players vote and the info about the photo after the answer is revealed if you think your group would be interested. You can use as much or as little of this info as you like.

Players will have to decide if they should FORWARD IT or DELETE IT. If they believe both the photo and the description are real, they would choose to FORWARD IT. If either the photo or the description is false, they would choose to DELETE IT. For example, the “Redneck mansion” question is a real photo that hasn’t been digitally altered. However, the description is incorrect, which makes the e-mail false and therefore should be deleted.

After each question is displayed, the individuals or teams will decide on an answer. The game leader will give a signal and all the players or teams will simultaneously hold up the FORWARD IT or DELETE IT card to vote.

Scoring: If you are letting each person have a card, you might just play it for fun without keeping score. If you are playing as teams, give one point for each correct answer. There’s a tiebreaker if any of the teams are tied after the last question. The team closest to the correct answer is the winner.
